Nelly Lakestani is an expert in animal behaviour and human-animal interaction.

She graduated with a joint BSc in Zoology and Psychology, and an MSc in Applied Animal Behaviour and Welfare, before carrying out a PhD at the University of Edinburgh, where she investigated the causes of dog bite accidents and how to prevent them.

Nelly has a particular interest in how people from different countries and cultures relate to animals.

She has carried out research projects in several countries including Italy, Mexico, Spain and the United Kingdom. These studies involved investigating children’s attitudes towards animals and their knowledge of them, as well as testing educational tools on animal behaviour and welfare.
